The Center for Communication and Civic Engagement in the Department of Communication at the University of Washington is dedicated to research, the creation of citizen resources and student-designed learning experiences that develop new areas of positive citizen involvement in politics and social life. Our primary focus is to understand how new information technologies can supplement more traditional forms of communication to facilitate civic engaement.
The City of Seattle Department Of Information Technology is committed to promoting a technology healthy community. This includes ensuring that residents hae the information technology training and access needed to ensure civic and cultural participation, employment and lifelong learning. The Depatment of Information Technology has provided leadership and funding for the development of pugetsoundoff.org
The Metrocenter YMCA is the youth and community development unit of the YMCA of Greater Seattle. Metrocenter provides activities for youth which shape values and encourage life-long community service. The "asset building" approach to youth development provides teens with the building blocks to thrive and be successful while having incredible experiences. Metrocenter YMCA organizes and runs youth programming for pugetsoundoff.org.
Digital Connectors Producing Next Generation Leaders. One Economy's Digital Connectors program is a best practice, youth development movement that engages teens and young adults ages 14-21, in leadership development, digital eduction, life skills management and community service.
By learning and involving themselves in their respective communities, youth are able to hone technical competencies and grasp life-long principles that inspire educational advancement and workforce preparation.
