Baseball hall of fame in cooperstown for Dave Niehaus

I just got back from Cooperstown, New York, to see my grandpa, Dave Niehaus (im sure you know who he is) get inducted to the national baseball hall of fame!! It was amazing. We got a private tour of the baseball museum there.  My grandpa had to put on these white gloves in order to touch the famous baseball artifacts. Not many people get to go down there. I took a picture of my grandpa holding Babe Ruths jersey. Ill post it up later.  The town itself is a very old fashion and laid back town that is dedicated to baseball.  It seems like the town hasn’t got any construction done since 1950.  Anyways, my grandpa’s speech was absolutely amazing.  Im sure you read it in the newspaper.  If not, you should.  Ill give you the link because it’s an amazing article.  http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/larrystone/555-5555_webniehaus27.html  It summarizes everything.Another experience that I had was that they showed us all the cool bats like Mickeys bat and the first ever gloves that they made.  Did you know that when baseball first started, no one wore any gloves?  And that the first glove was just a piece of leather that goes on their hand and doesn’t even go over their fingers?  I thought that that was amazing information.  All this stuff was in a archive where they had to have all the rooms in a low temperature area.  Not very many people get to see this… at all.

What a great moment and time for your grandpa, and for you. I would love to experience the hall the way your grandfather did - hold Babe's jersey. Can't wait to see the picture. Your grandpa is a tremendous announcer... although I wish he would update the score more during the games... lol. Really though, he's top notch in the field of broadcasting.
