My Letter to Obama

Maybe there's some information here you did not know. Dear Mr. Obama,             

Congratulations on becoming the president elect! You had my “vote”. I did not actually get to vote because I am not old enough, but you still had mine. Anyway, a suggestion.  Please follow through with what you said about urging auto makers to make more fuel-efficient cars, HERE IN THE US!!! We don’t need to spend more money on carting stuff around the oceans and polluting them.  We need better cars because most Americans use cars on a daily basis (unfortunately), and are putting carbon dioxide into our atmosphere.

The USA uses a lot of cows (poor cows), that are butchered inhumanely, and are destroying our rainforests! Here’s how it works: Humans bulldoze hundreds of acres of rainforest a minute to create space for farmland. But rainforest soil isn’t fertile enough for the stuff we need, so every few years we have to abandon what we cut down and clear more space.  Then the cows are sent for inhumane killing, and we eat bad fast food. Those are two reasons I don’t eat fast food. I won’t go into what happens to chickens. Anyway, we pollute and pollute and we SAY we have to stop, but we go and cut down trees, which would be a major help. I think that’s kind of ironic.

I feel bad for McCain and Sarah Palin. They were so close to winning, but I think McCain handled it well. At first I disliked everyone who supported them, but after the election was “over” the cloud lifted and I saw him as a nice person who had different values than me. Bush was a nice guy too, but I think he made some bad decisions. Please be a good president!

PLEASE DO NOT DRILL FOR OIL IN ALASKA OR OFFSHORE. If you absolutely NEED to, then I guess do it offshore. But DO NOT drill in ANY wildlife reserve of refuge! The whole point of them is to keep people out! Take care of our wildlife and our pets too. Can you provide some sort of funding for animal shelters (the no-kill ones of course)?

 P.S. Do you believe in the Mayan-predicted doomsday in 2012? I hope it’s not true. I would never get to vote or reach adulthood!

i want you to win. given that i think theres too much fluff about congratulations, i feel bad..ect.
Also I feel like the tone is not the best one to aproach the pres. the caps, the quotations, the putting it in laymans terms kind of detract from your credit as a very intellegent and caring individual and Obama's intelligence.
I'm not saying you should sell out to some formula, but definately brush up on some nice political rhetoric and oratory(profiles of courage by kennedy, frederick douglass, al gore..). judges really love that nice sounding stuff, especially in a genuine person like you. Also, two good facts won't hurt, from absolutely impeccable sources.

Wow, I love your letter. It's very well thought out, and it puts up a clear statement of what you believe in. Maybe you could be able to send that to him yourself... I hope you do, I think Obama would appreciate it. Wonderful job, Leigh!
