Parking Prices Rising

Mayor Nickels plans to raise the price of parking downtown. I know that this will bring huge revenue to the city, but what will it do for the people? As the economy is taking new turns everyday, so are people's lives. So many do not have the freedom they once had when it comes to money, maybe they cannot afford to have the price raised.

Pacific Place is a place where I go with my friends a lot. Sometimes, if I ' take the bus, my parents like to grab a movie. The parking there is a very reasonable price, but it is city parking. Will that be going up too? People of all sorts like Pacific Place, but for some the price of parking may stop them from going there.

If parking fees are raised, will people choose to go to the malls instead. There is free parking and it is all covered, warm and even has a food court. Another option is taking the bus downtown. I do that on a regular basis. Will my bus start filling up. Standing room only. That is great for the bus system and global warming, but then the city will lose money from a plan that they were expecting to make big bucks from.
